GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


The Wyoming Department of Health is seeking a fulltime Nurse who can use their skills to make a difference in Cody Wyoming. Enjoy working in Cody Wyoming while having the luxury of visiting Yellowstone National Park only located 52 miles away. This thriving community is focused on serving the needs of its community as well as the hundreds of thousands of annual visitors who travel to experience the beauty and culture of this mountainous area.

This position will work under the supervision of the County Nurse Manager. Responsibilities include assessments diagnosis treatment planning implementation and evaluation to individuals families and groups and to the population as a whole.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.


  • Performs nursing assessment diagnosis treatment & evaluation according to the ANAs Public Health Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice.
  • Arranges for and conducts nursing clinics and classes; teaching individuals and groups about health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Determines priorities and responsibilities based on public health core functions and essential services.
  • Administers adult and child vaccines per program protocols and best practices.
  • Performs majority of walkin clinics applying the nursing process guidelines and orders and appropriate documentation.
  • Works with nurse manager and public health response coordinator in relation to emergency preparedness activities.
  • Provides Family Planning Services HIV/STI testing Ryan White case management TB testing Maternal and Child home visitation and Lactation Counseling

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Preference will be given to a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with work experience in public health nursing. Prior experience in interviewing assessing and providing pertinent assistance to new parents is a plus. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming.

KNOWLEDGE:



  • Knowledge of laws principles practices and techniques of professional nursing.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance of medical records charts reports and observations.
  • Knowledge of principles of nursing process and scientific process.
  • Knowledge of applying medical diagnosis and treatment to patient care.
  • Knowledge of scientific concepts as a basis for decisionmaking.
  • Knowledge of physical biological and behavioral sciences.
  • Knowledge of evaluation services and programs according to standards.
  • Knowledge of work management and leadership theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of federal state and local laws pertaining to healthcare.
  • Knowledge of public health core functions and essential services.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Associates Degree (typically in Nursing)

Experience:
02 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN

Certificates Licenses Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

OR


Education & Experience Substitution:

35 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN

Certificates Licenses Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

  • The Wyoming Department of Health is an EVerify employer.
  • As a condition of employment the successful applicant employed will be required to execute a release of personnel records to the Board of County Commissioners to be used on an asneeded basis; and complete an Employee Health Assessment which includes verification of immunity to vaccinepreventable diseases. If the successful applicant is found to be nonimmune vaccination will be required unless medically contraindicated; Yearly influenza vaccination is also required unless medically contraindicated. COVID19 vaccination or an approved exemption is required as the position provides services in CMSregulated facilities. A background check including the taking of fingerprints will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation; BLS/CPR for Healthcare Professionals is required.
  • ** Hiring Bonus eligibility and conditions
    • New state employees and temporary employees accepting a permanent position
    • Current state employees acceptinga promotional opportunity recruitment must have been open to the public
    • One year of service in the position must be completed. Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay.
    • Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of 1 year from the promotion date.
    • Employees will only be eligible for 1 hiring bonus in a 12month period.
