DUTIES
Development projects (end to end)
- Identify new student accommodation opportunities.
- Evaluate these new student accommodation opportunities including site sourcing in South Africa and Africa.
- Perform due diligence on new potential development opportunities.
- Put together or recommend a team of professionals to design a new potential development.
- Assess feasibility and ensure all items are costed for from student accommodation side.
- Manage development team and engage in structured meetings to ensure the development is carried out as per the agreements.
- Prepare documentation required for the development.
- Perform/Commission research and market analysis for opportunities.
- Ensure that the budget for all research trips is intact and all processes are followed.
- Provide input for student life programme and budget.
- Track student life programme and engage with stakeholders and sponsors.
- Assist in deliverables for SASAII Board.
- Engage with all departments to ensure that the student accommodation asset class is performing according to KPIs.
- Continuously engage and maintain relationship with university personnel and stakeholders.
- Engage with potential new clients and manage relationships.
Business
- Strategise on yearly rental proposal for student accommodation markets in conjunction with market analysis completed.
- Strategise and assess the performance of the student accommodation asset class.
- Represent the operating platform on Manco for properties understudent accommodation.
- Provide any recommendations for the improvement of student accommodation development.
- Manage team of staff relevant to student accommodation initiative.
- Entrepreneurial flair and good knowledge of building/development cost triggers and ability to monitor and control value creation.
- Commercial awareness understanding and knowledge of property market.
- Effective decision maker and creative problem solving.
- Negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Time management effective work scheduling and the ability to work on a range of projects under pressure.
- Computer Literacy.
- Ability to manage teams and create enabling environment (Interpersonal relationships based on mutual trust respect and cooperation).
- Project Management and ability to evaluate influencing factors.
Requirements
- The candidate must be a graduate with an appropriate qualification.
- A post graduate qualification would be beneficial.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a property/building related industry.
- The ideal candidate will have an established network in the property sector.
- Proven record of new business development deal making experience and team management.
