Advance Practice Lead Southwest Full Time

Position Description: Reporting to the Clinical Director as the Advance Practice Lead Southwest you will have a dynamic role in providing both oversight and direct clinical supervision to Indwells Southwest program teams. Your leadership will have a specific focus on community mental health and addiction nursing practices at Indwell. Ensuring that all clinical care services meet the requirements and standards of practice as described in Indwell policy and provincial legislation. Overall you will be empowered to influence Indwells clinical and nursing practice at large. Working as a member of a clinical leadership team in addition to program teams this is an active relational role that creates:

Hours of Work/Location: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am5pm. Primarily supporting London and St. Thomas programs with occasional travel to other regions. Work location as per personal preference (at home and/or Indwells London Resource Centre 740 Dundas St. East).
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Advanced Nursing Practice: Consultation Coaching and Support
- Facilitate growth of nursing practice at Indwell with a focus on the Southwest Regions while supporting nurse growth across the organization
- Assessment of clinical needs and advising leadership on gaps and opportunities for growth
- Ensuring full scope of practice competencies while recognizing the specific boundaries of the scope of practice
- Lead and support Indwells nursing identity with blending principles of community health nursing and mental health nursing
- Direct program presence and availability to nursing staff in our Southwest Programs
Clinical Supervision Southwest
- Maintain regular communication with program staff to review current practices address challenges and implement solutions to challenges of providing care
- Identify and mitigate clinical risk situations and support critical incident and occurrence reporting and debriefing
- Provide direct mentorship and coaching to supervisors clinical leaders and senior staff in health and social support activities
- Deliver education and training where required
- Partner with managerial and supervisory staff to ensure compliance with Indwell policies and procedures
- Inform hiring practices by anticipating and identifying future nursing skill needs and trends
- Participate in program evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure clinical supports offered support the culturally safety of our residents are inclusive of wholeperson wellness and in consideration of the Social Determinants of Health
District Responsibilities
- Maintain familiarity with program operations regionally
- Be a visible and engaging presence in programs mentoring coaching and encouraging staff
- Support the onboarding and training of new nursing staff
- Respond to emergent situations and provide consultation as needed
- Participate in program management and leadership activities systems level collaboration and supporting professional development
- Proactive support of staff education remediation and disciplinary processes where necessary
- Physical presence and proximity in programs to maintain familiarity with staff and tenants
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Masters degree in nursing or equivalent preparation with relevant nursing administrative experience
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- A passion for and experience in mental health and addiction nursing with a background in community nursing being a strong asset
- An understanding of homelessness and its complexities
- A high level of resiliency and willingness to work in close proximity to challenging situations
- A commitment to aligning professional practice with Indwells mission vision and values. Upholding and modeling the standards set out in the organizations Mission Statement and other operating standards and policies
- Knowledge and capacity in research and evaluation
- Exceptional mentoring and coaching skills with a passion for teaching
- Strong clinical acumen judgment and critical thinking skills
- Relational entrepreneurial spirit with a vision for the future of community nursing
- Enthusiasm for a varied workday including travel and visits to programs
- A valid G class drivers licensewith own vehicle to travel in and around Indwells Program Regions
