Job Description

Rural young Minds provided by Samaritans

  • Liverpool Plains Local Government Area
  • Parttime 3 days per week 48hour fortnight) maximum term until 30 June 2025

Join our team and provide support to young people (aged 1225 who are experiencing mental health challenges. You will provide personcentered therapy and interventions working collaboratively with young people to help them achieve positive outcomes in their health and wellness journey.

The Recovery Model is at the core of our work. Your role will be to develop individualised plans based on the unique needs and circumstances of each young person empowering them to take ownership of their recovery and live a selfdirected life. Youll work within a framework that includes our Recovery Principles.

You will support an active case load of up to 40 young people per year with an anticipated duration of support lasting around six months for each individual. As a key member of the team you will receive supervision and guidance from a supportive Clinical Lead and Community Services Manager to help manage your caseload and ensure appropriate referrals are made when necessary.

Essentials:

  • Tertiary degree in Psychology Social Work Counselling Nursing Occupational Therapy or similar
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Minimum 2 years experience and demonstrated understanding of mental health issues affecting young people and their families and carers best practice treatment options support services and comorbidities
  • Demonstrated ability to work holistically with young people with mental health and drug and alcohol issues including indigenous refugee CALD and low socioeconomic background
  • Minimum 2 years experience and demonstrated skills and understanding of working with young people in a therapeutic group setting evidence based counselling and ongoing treatment.
  • Minimum 2 years experience and demonstrated skills and understanding of mental health assessments referrals and coordination of care for young people in crisis with or at risk of developing severe mental health illness.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain linkages and networks with a range of government community and corporate stakeholders to facilitate clear referral pathways
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively engage with young people families and carers who are at risk of developing severer mental health issues.
