Position Summary
The Department of Central Eurasian Studies in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies at Indiana University Bloomington seeks a tenure track hire (open rank) to fill the Roger E. Covey Professorship in Silk Road Studies. The appointment begins August 1 2025. Applicants should have a proven track record of scholarship related to the overland and/or maritime Silk Roads and their relevance in the contemporary world. Areas of scholarship could include interactions of societies histories religions institutions trade and economic developments natural resources greatpower competitions diplomacy and security. Teaching will be conducted in English. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to excellence in research teaching public engagement and program development of Silk Road and Central Eurasian Studies within Indiana Universitys worldclass Central Eurasian Studies department as well as within the Hamilton Lugar School. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a capacity to design and teach classes appealing to a range of students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
