Job Description

Overview

Job Summary: Come join our Extrusion department as a Press Inspector. As the Press Inspector you will review all processed and finished inspection of extrusions in the department. This is a 1st shift position from 7am7pm.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand blueprints and standard tolerance tables.
  • Perform basic math calculations.
  • Develop and implement various types of production procedures (document in procedure folder).
  • Assist press operator with die changes and setting press parameters.
  • Inspect die layout and clearance of tooling in die slide.
  • Set up run out table (organize and arrange blocks etc. for production.
  • Set up water boxes water pans cooling fans and other special requirements for various alloys.
  • Inspect material during production using micrometers calipers etc.
  • Inspect material at stretcher and saw to assure product quality.
  • Instruct stretcher and saw crews as to procedure to be used to handle material.
  • Communicate effectively and thoroughly both written and verbal between shift foreman die shop personnel hourly personnel and between shifts.
  • Complete inspection/production reports. Accuracy of these records is critical.
  • Evaluate and take corrective action to eliminate defective extrusions.
  • Work under limited supervision and possess ability to make decisions.
  • Assist final inspector when necessary.
  • Regularly check all equipment report immediately to proper personnel any potential problem or defect.
  • Maintain neat and orderly work area and assist with general housekeeping of the press department.
  • Follow Company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or one or more years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Prefer previous metal inspection experience or mechanical drafting background.
  • At a minimum must have previous manufacturing experience working with metal.

Other Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add and subtract twodigit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement volume and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to work in a team setting possess excellent communication skills read blueprints utilize measuring equipment and operate production equipment.
