Job Description
CardiothoracicSurgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) classified as Level II nonsurgical position covering ICU step down unit and outpatient clinic.
- Hospital responsibilities: Preoperative admissions consultations medical optimization/ management ICU discharges.
- Outpatient clinic responsibilities: new consults established patient care postoperative follow up visits and coordination of follow up care with other services.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Mayo Clinic also may perform the following tasks in any authorized setting:
- Obtaining patient history
- Performing physical examinations
- Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Formulating a diagnostic impression
- Developing and implementing a treatment plan
- Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
- Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
- Making appropriate referrals
- Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication in accordance with FL state laws and department policies
- Performing minor procedures and surgical procedures
- Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patients status and appropriately interprets information relative to patients agespecific needs.
- Assist with ongoing departmental process improvement and policy development
- Other departmental or institutional committee assignments as needed

Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience as an NP or PA. Currently not considering new graduates.
Nurse Practitioner:Mastersprepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP ANP or ACNP.
Physician Assistant:Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
ActiveBLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required.
- Previous experience with at least1 of the following areasis stronglypreferred:
- Cardiothoracic surgery heart/lung transplant or cardiology.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess strong computer skills.
- Must be flexible and willing to handle extended hours and oncall responsibilities (evenings weekends and holidays) if need arises in department.
