Job Description

Position Summary
In late summer 2022 FCLC and FCRH will phase in a new shared approach to academic advising. The new Fordham College Advising Center will be staffed by fulltime professional advisors who will provide holistic personalized guidance to students aimed to bolster their academic success and facilitate a smooth transition to college life. In the first phase planned for academic yearthe colleges will hire a cohort of academic advisors to support the academic transition and progress of all students in the Class of 2026. In the second phase planned for academic yearthese advisors will continue to advise this group and a new set of academic advisors will be hired. After that all advisors will be expected to advise both first and secondyear students. The Assistant Director and Senior Academic Advisors will supervise the campusbased advisors and will work closely with the new Associate Dean for Academic Advising to support the implementation of the new advising model. Academic Advisors and Senior Academic Advisors will report to the Assistant Director and Senior Academic Advisor for First and SecondYear Students at either FCLC or FCRH depending on the Advisors home campus.

Essential Functions
Meets individually with all assigned students (in person online and by phone) on a regular basis to provide academic advising and degree planning and to support the transition from high school to college. Develops programming and provides resources to students in support of their academic progress and career development. Applies best practices in academic advising to assist students in selecting programs of study discerning fields of study and connecting to experiential opportunities such as undergraduate research study abroad community engaged learning and internships. Collaborates with other advisors both in FCRH and in FCLC to develop a strong advising community and to deliver programs that support student success and retention. Works collaboratively with student success team departmental associate chairs program directors faculty mentors and other members of the faculty and staff on student academic progression and student concerns. Contributes to the effectiveness of academic advising and student support through teambased work with other deans in the FCRH FCLC the Gabelli School of Business and other schools throughout Fordham University. Fully leverages the potential of Salesforce our student success hub to provide wraparound student support. Uses databased tools to identify and prioritize students who need intervention and support. Attends regular case conferences and works collaboratively with others across the institution including Assistant Deans for Student Support and Success Counseling and Psychological Services Campus Ministry and Student Affairs in identifying and supporting atrisk students. Responds to regular inquiries from students parents faculty and other administrators with regard to academic and course related issues. Understands and complies with all FERPA regulations and maintains appropriate confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in various software tools such as Microsoft Office Suite and GSuite. Experience with Banner Salesforce and web management systems.

Work Environment
Office Environment: Employees are protected from weather conditions or contaminants but not necessarily occasional temperature changes.
