About the role:
Gartner seeks a Principal Network Security Engineer to join our Enterprise Information Security Team. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a robust security posture across Gartners diverse technology landscape. Your expertise in security best practices network security data protection and endpoint security will be essential in protecting Gartners assets and ensuring the confidentiality integrity and availability of our information.
A Principal Network Security Engineer is a seniorlevel position that involves overseeing security strategies and initiatives across an organization. This role requires extensive experience and expertise in cybersecurity as well as the ability to lead teams and influence organizational security policies.
What you will do:
Collaborate with Leadership on the longterm strategy for network security partnering with key resources to execute against that strategy.
Overseeing security architecture and design for complex systems.
Engaging with stakeholders to align security initiatives with business goals.
Collaborate and mentor with a small team of associates focused on network security and security automation.
Design implement and optimize security solutions that align with industry best practices and Gartners specific needs.
Manage and advise on a variety of security tools and platforms both current state and future state (e.g. NGFW firewalls cloud network security).
Conducting advanced threat modeling and risk assessments.
Contribute to a number of measurable strategic goals and priorities demonstrated through a mature metrics framework.
Stay abreast of the latest security technologies and trends to identify opportunities for enhancing Gartners security controls.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to assess security risks identify risk prioritize and develop remediation plans.
Participate in security incident response activities providing technical expertise and leadership.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of security processes procedures and configurations.
Apply expert knowledge to solve complex business/technical issues.
Take ownership of assignments and drive them to completion.
Take part in shaping the future of our Information Security organization.
What you will need:
Proficiency in Network security protocols and technologies. Proven experience in implementing and managing modern network security platforms like Zscaler NGFW Firewalls or similar (SaaS and Cloud).
Experience with Cloud infrastructure (IaaS & PaaS) in Azure or AWS.
Experience with MicroSegmentation and ZeroTrust principals
Experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF) policies for new and existing web applications.
Advanced knowledge of security architecture and design principles.
Strategic thinking and the ability to influence organizational change.
Experience in deploying NGFWs using Infrastructure as Code (IAC) with automation tool (Terraform Ansible Chef Puppet etc..
Strong understanding of security principles common attack vectors and mitigation strategies.
Indepth knowledge of network security data protection intrusion detection systems and success in leading complex technology development managing priorities concepttoimplementation and delivering marketleading technology in threat intelligence and Incident communication skills for effective interaction with technical and business stakeholders.
A proactive and adaptable approach to problemsolving with a focus on continuous improvement.
Familiarity with technical security controls guidelines and frameworks outlined by standards such as SOC2 ISO 27001 NIST 80053.
Nice to have:
Industry certifications (e.g. CISSP CCSP CCNP Security AWS or Azure Security)
Software engineering skills in languages like Python C# Java .Net Node
Experience with bot architecture and design
Preferred skills in Gsuite Microsoft Office JIRA and Confluence.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 128000 USD 186000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range or be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to education training experience professional achievement business need and location. In addition to base salary employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance or a rolebased uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
