Job Description

Associate U.S. Public Affairs Regulation & Geopolitical

Brunswick Group LLC Washington D.C.

Opportunity

Brunswick Group is seeking an Associate for its U.S. Public Affairs practice with 710 years of work experience in political campaigns public affairs policy communications or related space to join our Washington D.C. office and U.S. public affairs practice. This Associate will use their experience specialized public affairs skill and background on behalf of the firms clients across a range of sectors and projects.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Client Contribution & Handling

  • Serve as an expert to clients on public affairs communications and crisis situations across sectors
  • Provide relevant insight guidance and advice to clients
  • Play integral role in new business process; manage proposal development and participate in pitch preparation
  • Manage the development of key client documents by playing a vital role in drafting editing and routing throughout the internal process and external delivery
  • Plan and execute client announcements and events managing strategic communications plan development preparation of strategic communications documents including talking points Q&As dayof rollouts media backgrounders media handling and approach announcement or event logistics and organization of media meetings and logistics

Teamwork and Collaborative Approach

  • Manage and mentor team members; work with Partner and Director on the daytoday management of staff and client deliverables
  • Oversee research assignments; responsible for distilling a large amount of information into the most impactful and helpful points
  • Take initiative in projects going beyond basic requirements to deliver exceptional results

Communications Skills

  • Prepare wellwritten organized and thoughtful documents and correspondence
  • Express a point of view in a thoughtful manner; analyze and distil complex information
  • Use good judgment in deciding what information should be shared and what should not; exercise discretion

Networking

  • Foster a network of journalist contacts and relationships
  • Develop relationships with the policy and regulatory community to understand issues and priorities
  • Proactively build a network locally to identify talent referrals new business prospects and contacts

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • 710 years of public affairs policy and/or campaign experience
  • Deep understanding of political and policy issues and how they may affect corporations
  • Ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial fastpaced environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Energetic team player with strong selfmotivation
  • Experience managing teams and passionate about coaching junior staff
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively with strong problemsolving skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in highpressure situations
  • Exhibit discretion with confidential client matters
  • Knowledge of the media landscape

  • A rising advisor and communicator with experience counseling clients and/or principals on regulatory and public affairs issues

  • Strong relationships across D.C. including governmental branches lobbying shops and campaigns

Compensation

The applicant who is selected for this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

The range of base compensation will be: $125000 $155000.

If an offer is extended to an applicant in DC the applicant will be paid in line with this range and based on the applicants experience and qualifications. This range applies only to the DC position and salaries in other offices and regions will vary based on an applicants experience and qualifications as well as the competitive landscape.

Bonus Eligibility: Annual discretionary bonus contingent upon individual performance and the overall performance of the Firm.
