Job Description

Description

This position is responsible for performance and reporting of clinical laboratory testing using a variety of automated semiautomated and manual technologies. Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of test results initial troubleshooting of problems instrument maintenance and following safe laboratory practices.

Accountabilities/Duties:

  • Collect lab specimens and evaluates their acceptability.
  • Completes necessary laboratory documentation.
  • Follow the laboratorys procedures for specimen handling and processing test analyses reporting and maintaining records of patient results.
  • Adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies document all quality control activities instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the laboratory general supervisor or director.
  • Utilize technical background knowledge of laboratory medicine across all areas of the laboratory. These include Immunohematology Chemistry TDM Hematology Coagulation Serology Urinalysis Microbiology and Phlebotomy.
  • Observes all safety and compliance requirements.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist or related field.
  • Current certification as Medical Technologist (MLT/MT/CLS/MLS) or equivalent by a national board of registry i.e ASCP AMT.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year hospital laboratory experience preferred.
