The Opportunity:
Under general supervision of the Office Support Supervisor for Housing and Dining Financial Services the Fiscal Technician for Housing and Dining Financial Services applies their extensive knowledge of the system to interact with students parents and staff regarding Housing and Dining Services and student financial contracts for these services. The Housing and Dining system houses approximately 7000 students and provides approximately 14000 meals per day. The main responsibilities include exercising independent judgment to interpret and apply rules and regulations to students in relation to their Housing and Dining contracts contract policies and procedures communicating and explaining balances owed on the students account describing website navigation and selfservice functions to customers; keeping webbased information current maintaining student account records posting charges and adjustments relating to Housing and Dining in the Universitys Student Financials system leading and training other staff in the customer service and account posting functions receiving and recording cash transactions validating account balances operating a POS system counting and balancing cash funds maintaining spreadsheets using Excel and special projects as assigned.

This is a full time 100 FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$3028 $3999 Range 34 (Steps A M) Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 35728.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent; one year of general clerical or fiscal experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Experience working with Microsoft Office programs (Excel Word Outlook) and a large accounts receivable system.
Minimum of six months customer service experience such as retail restaurant or commercial sales.
Experience operating a cash register or POS system receipting and processing cash and credit/debit transactions.
Must have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated sensitivity to and experience in effectively working with diverse or multicultural populations.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain contracts policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to assist customers in the navigation of a business website to assist with selfservice opportunities.
Experience assisting customers using an ecommerce (web payment) application.
Experience working in the WSU Housing and Dining System.
Experience using coin and bill counters.
