Job Description

Horizon Science Academy seeks a creative STEAM teacher to join family oriented team. STEAM class will serve as a Unified Arts rotation for all students in grades K6. The STEAM teacher will work alongside classroom teachers to deliver rigorous engaging STEAM lessons and activities to empower students to be creative thinkers and problem solvers.   • Support the schools mission philosophies values goals and policies toward students parents/guardians and coworkers.
  • Design and deliver engaging studentcentered learning experiences around Science Technology Engineering Art & Math that align with state standards and stimulate critical thinking problemsolving and creativity.
  • Provide STEAM instruction through inquiry and projectbased learning methods.
  • Integrate technology and digital tools effectively to enhance STEAM instruction and promote learning literacy skills and collaboration
  • Collaborate with administration and staff in the development and implementation of interdisciplinary STEAM activities into the core curriculum
  • Maintain an inventory of materials to support the collection and organization of supplies necessary for teaching in a STEAM setting
  • Demonstrate essential knowledge of the connection between science technology robotics innovation design thinking and other fields of study
  • Possess knowledge of content standards effective instructional strategies and assessment driven instruction
  • Collect and interpret data to make instructional decisions related to curriculum and instruction; monitor and assess curriculum instruction and program effectiveness and recommend and implement improvements to curriculum instruction and program effectiveness based on ongoing analysis of data
  • Participate in gradelevel and department meetings to coordinate curricular projects and provide targeted support towards STEAM instructional approaches
  • Collaborate with administration staff and building leaders in the development and implementation of programs events and instructional practices that will increase the number and variety of STEAM experiences for all students
  • Coach and mentor teachers on effective strategies for integrating STEAM concepts and practices into their classrooms including lesson planning instructional strategies and assessment methods
  • Attend professional development and training related to STEAM programs and methodologies staying abreast of current research
  • Serve as a member of the school based STEAM Committee
  • Assist with the review and identification of quality instructional materials and pedagogical best practices and provides staff development opportunities for teachers and administrators in the area of STEAM
  • Develop community partnerships to enhance classroom learning and create authentic STEAM experiences
  • Foster positive relationships with students parents and other stakeholders
  • Work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment.
  • Share best practices with other teachers and collaborate with them to improve instructional and assessment practices.
  • Facilitate regular parent/guardian communications and conferences to discuss student progress.
  • Maintain an organized attractive and safe classroom environment
  • Have an understanding of PBIS strategies or willingness to learn
  • Foster positive relationships with students parents and other stakeholders

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors degree or Masters Degree in Education or similar concentration
  • Background in STEAM related subjects preferred
  • Experience with primary/elementary school age students
  • Valid OH teaching certificate/license or must be in the process of obtaining a valid OH teaching certificate/license in subject area to be taught
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience. Horizon Science Academy offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical dental and vision life and disability coverage. Employees participate in Ohio STRS (state retirement system). Tuition Reimbursement available up to $4000 per year.
