Job Title: Camp Counselor FLSA Status: Part Time/Seasonal Reports to: Preschool & Family Director Location: McClurg Rd Boardman Schedule Requirements: M/W/F 8:30 am1:30 pm June 9August 15. Must be available for training in May must commit to at least 8 of the 10week sessions. POSITION SUMMARY:This position is responsible for providing leadership for all camp activities keeping track of all campers in their assigned group consistent care and safetyof all campers. Must be committedto staying engaged with their group at all times. Responsibilities include providing a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty respect responsibility and caring. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Assist camp team with planning and carrying out all activities with a particular small group.
- Provide a safe happy and secure environment for all children.
- Greet and communicate with each parent/child entering the program area.
- Engage in supervised activities with children.
- Redirect children discipline only in nonthreatening nonaggressive manner.
- Monitor check in and check out information make sure to check photo Id against Escort List and that parent/guardians names are listed on list before dismissing child to them upon dismissal.
- Clean room and prepare for next day at end of each shift.
- Fill out accident/incident forms completely and turn in to director for follow up.
- Notify Director of any concerns or supplies needed.
- Dress appropriately for duty (YMCA staff shirt/jacket name tag khaki or black pants).
- Know the YMCA emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
- Find own substitute when not able to work scheduled shift unless scheduled vacation time.
- Be enthusiastic friendly and smile.
- Incorporate YMCA Character Development values into program.
- Recognize and report suspected child abuse to Director.
- Serve as a good role model demonstrating positive values and safe behavior.
- Follow all YMCA policies rules regulations and procedures.
- Make families feel comfortable and at ease.

- Frequently ask if there is any way you can help.

QUALIFICATIONS: - Entry requirements: Must be at least 16 years of age with previous experience working with children. Must demonstrate an ability to work well with preschoolers and parents and be fun energetic creative and enthusiastic. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Requirements as of employment: YMCA New Staff Orientation CPR/AED First Aid certifications Child Abuse Prevention Bloodborne Pathogens Sexual Harassment and YMCA Leader training required within 30 days of hire date. All required forms need to be on file prior to first day of work.
