Our engineering and project management and construction disciplines ensure safe efficient and sustainable delivery of projects globally across the metals and mining infrastructure and energy sectors.
Hatch is seeking Civil Structural Designers with experience in water treatment and/or infrastructure. The Civil Structural Designer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to large and small projects. The Civil Structural Designer is responsible for the production of civil structures 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with project requirements under the supervision of the Lead Civil Structural Designer. Activities include site investigation and civil structures steel and concrete modeling and drafting for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multidiscipline projects.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Civil Structural Designer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope quantities cost and schedule
- Coordinate the work of draftspersons in the preparation of contract drawings record keeping and other statistical work
- Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 2D / 3D CAD and MicroStation software as required
- Perform conceptual layout work
- Develop design details
- Check drawings prior to release
- Ensure coordination with designers and engineers within the discipline and with other disciplines
- Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models
- Participation in formal engineering review processes
- Verify onsite condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities
- Construction supervision dependent upon project demands
- Incorporate safety in design.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements:
- Associates Degree or equivalent (civil/structural)
- Experience within a large project multidisciplinary EPCM environment
- Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D software
- Proficient in the use of MicroStation
- Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards regulations and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project
- Understanding of other discipline requirements
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good safety awareness
