Step into Your New Role
Kleinfelder is seeking to fill a position of aSenior Geotechnical Engineer.
The ideal candidate will:
- Direct junior staff to perform field activities including geotechnical drilling laboratory testing and construction observations with subcontractors.
- Coordinate geotechnical tasks and manage mediumto large size geotechnical projects.
- Review construction submittals and daily field reports.
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and prepare geotechnical reports for the design and construction for a variety of private commercial and public projects.
- Review work of and mentor junior staff.
- Interrelate with external clients and subcontractors.
- Develop and grow business with current and new clients.
We are looking for someone with the ability to provide quality technical support and project management on mainly commercial municipal energy and water projects.
Strong analytical skills are required in areas including:
- Geotechnical engineering evaluations including:
- Engineering for soft soil conditions
- Shallow and deep foundation design
- Ground improvement techniques
- Earthquake engineering
- Experience with drilling oversight andsoil and rock classification
- Experience with construction oversight
- Subgrade observations observation of backfill and compaction deep foundation installation etc.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in civil (geotechnical) or geological engineering; masters degree preferred
- Minimum of 12 years of consulting experience in the geotechnical field.
- PE or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Experience with proposal writing scope budgeting and scheduling
- Experience with project management
- Experience executing geotechnical field investigations
- Experience with local geologic conditions as well as national geology and geologic hazards
- Proficiency in software including Slope/W or SLIDE SHAFT LPILE APILE Settle3
- Experience with geotechnical engineering analyses without the use of geotechnical software.
- Experience with and strong abilities with technical writing of geotechnical investigation reports
- Working well in a team environment
- Valid drivers license.
Knowledge of the following software as a minimum:
- Microsoft Office
- gINT
- Slide/SlopeW
- LPile Group
- GRL WEAP
- Settle 3D
