Duties And Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the scope of work is similar related or a logical assignment to this classification. 1. Teach day and evening sections of art with an emphasis on digital mixed media twodimensional drawing and composition painting design color theory and two or more of the following: figure and portraiture western or nonwestern art history or other selected art classes both on campus and online 2. Design and implement a digital art laboratory for both fine art and graphic applications 3. Develop new curriculum in digital art 4. Modify art curriculum as needed including student learning outcomes and assessment processes 5. Participate in the development and/or selection of course materials equipment and technology that will enhance the offerings of the art department 6. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office and lab hours 7. Maintain expertise in current teaching methodologies and curricula 8. Participate as a member of department division and college committees 9. Perform other professional duties as required by contract and general institutional needs
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Masters or above in fine arts art or art history OR Bachelors in one of the above AND Masters or above in humanities OR the equivalent (see below) NOTE : Masters in fine arts as used here refers to any masters degree in the subject matter of fine arts which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing painting sculpture printmaking ceramics textiles and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the Master of Fine Arts MFA degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance film video photography creative writing or other nonplastic arts. Demonstrated cultural competence sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students faculty and staff
