Job Description

Position Summary

Your HR consulting expertise customer focus and relationshipbuilding skills will help shape the future of our HR business partner model as it expands across campus. The HR Business Partner liaises between central HR and assigned areas of campus providing strategic human resources consulting services which align human capital efforts with department goals and initiatives. Qualified candidates will have a bachelors degree and minimum of five years professional Human Resources experience across multiple human resources disciplines including: recruitment/retention benefits and compensation training and development employee relations and HR compliance. Higher education experience and HR certification PHR or SHRM CP) preferred but not required. Strong business acumen and excellent customer service conflict resolution and critical thinking skills are required. Duties And Responsibilities
Provides strategic HR support in the development and implementation of the assigned department(s) strategic initiatives. Provides guidance and input ensuring that HR policies and processes are applied appropriately with a solutions mindset and in a legally compliant manner. Engages with leadership of assigned departments to assess prioritize and anticipate HRrelated needs and to collaborate on solutions in support of department objectives. Meets on a regular basis with assigned departments building and developing trusted relationships with the leadership and staff. Provides consultation and guidance to hiring managers and search committees with the recruiting process including developing staffing projections creating/analyzing job descriptions identifying creative and effective posting and advertising strategies including broadening diversity strategy and reach and maintaining compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. Provides strategic consultation to assigned department(s) in the areas of performance management coaching/mentoring professional development and workforce planning (including reorganizations and succession planning) to maximize individual and team performance. Provides training and support to departments on policies and procedures related to the daytoday management of employees reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Consults with assigned department(s) on employee relations issues partnering with Employee Relations on complex issues and investigations as needed. Provides guidance to departments on benefits eligibility workers compensation FMLA and others leaves of absence in collaboration with the Benefits Analyst to ensure operational continuity and consistent application of policy. Collaborates with and maintains strong relationships with HR centers of excellence to ensure the consistent application of existing HR policies practices and initiatives and to identify implement and communicate new or enhanced HR policies and processes within assigned area(s). Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned or as become evident.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree. Minimum 710 years of professional HR experience required with at least 5 years in a Human Resources Business Partner or HR leadership role; or a combination of advanced HR leadership experience along with Higher Education administration experience may be considered. Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding and experience working with multiple human resource disciplines for example employee relations compensation practices performance management staffing employment etc. Familiarity with employment laws and HR best practices is a necessity in the areas of but not limited to employment compliance and employee relations. Must exhibit in philosophy and practice a high level of support for the mission and values of Villanova University the Office of Human Resources and our shared commitment to diversity equity and inclusion. Must be able to serve as a community builder collaborative business partner team player and servantleader valuing different backgrounds and life experiences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal and consultative skills required. Must be highly organized and willing to learn. Must be able to protect confidentiality of information at a high level. Excellent customer service support skills with demonstrated evidence of strong business acumen including the ability to understand the diverse needs of the faculty staff and managers they support and adjusting services in accordance with those needs and requirements. Excellent conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications
HR certification (such as PHR or SHRM CP) and/or masters degree in HR business counseling organizational development or related field. Strategic thinker with knowledge of the changing demographics and trends of higher education. Project management skills.
