Job Description

Position Summary

The Entrepreneurship program at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint Johns University invites applications for a fulltime 1.0 FTE) oneyear faculty member of Entrepreneurship. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping the entrepreneurial education of our students and will contribute significantly to our growing academic offerings in the minor program.

DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS
This position offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in a dynamic and expanding academic program committed to fostering entrepreneurial talent and innovation. Our EScholars program established in 2004 has been recognized as a Program of Excellence by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Additionally in the fall of 2024 we launched an Entrepreneurship Minor which we expect to expand significantly in the coming years.

COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY HIGHLIGHTS
The College of Saint Benedict (CSB) a liberal arts college for women and Saint Johns University (SJU) a liberal arts college for men are located in the central lakes area of Minnesota surrounded by more than 3000 acres of pristine forests prairies and lakes. The campuses are minutes away from St. Cloud an increasingly diverse regional center with a population of over 100000 and 70 miles from Minneapolis and St. Paul. Some CSB/SJU faculty and staff choose to reside locally while others commute from the Twin Cities. With a total enrollment of approximately 2900 students faculty members develop relationships with students in small classroom settings and have opportunities to work closely with students on research projects experiential learning experiences and study abroad programs. Recent initiatives to create a dynamic general education curriculum and to develop plans for a new teaching and learning center demonstrate strong institutional support for faculty development.

The posted wage range represents CSB and SJUs good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors including the candidates experience qualifications and skills and may fall outside of the range indicated.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for teaching three 4credit courses per semester plus student advising

  1. Teaching(The candidate may be asked to teach any of the following courses):
    • Foundations of Entrepreneurship (ENTR 201: Introduce students to the fundamental principles of entrepreneurship including opportunity recognition business planning and venture creation.
    • Applied Entrepreneurship (ENTR 304: Facilitate practical handson learning experiences where students apply entrepreneurial concepts to realworld scenarios.
    • Topics in Entrepreneurship (ENTR 101: Deliver a variety of dynamic courses covering a range of entrepreneurial topics such as finance storytelling and improvisation.
    • Entrepreneurship Practicum (ENTR 394: Guide students through the practical aspects of launching and managing a new venture.
    • Entrepreneur Scholars Program (ENTR: Teach and mentor students in our distinguished EScholars program which requires them to launch a venture before graduation.
    • Courses in the Department of Strategic Communication: Depending on the demand for ENTR courses the candidate should be prepared to teach courses in marketing advertising and branding.
  2. Curriculum Development:
    • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Entrepreneurship minor and its core courses (ENTR 201 ENTR 304 and ENTR 394.
    • Innovate and refine course content to ensure alignment with industry trends and student needs.
  3. Student Mentorship:
    • Provide academic and entrepreneurial mentorship to students in the Entrepreneurship Minor and the EScholars program supporting their journey from idea conception to successful venture launch.
    • Possible domestic and international travel with the EScholars.
  4. Community Engagement:
    • Engage with the local and broader entrepreneurial community to enhance the programs visibility and provide students with networking and experiential learning opportunities

Qualifications

Required:

Preferred:
  • Proven track record in curriculum development at the undergraduate level.
  • Willingness to organize and guide domestic and international business trips with undergraduate entrepreneurship students.
  • Experience in teaching or facilitating Creative Problem Solving Lateral Thinking Design Thinking.
  • Innovative approach to teaching and program development.
