Work Schedule: JuneJuly. During the academic summer program the standard 40hour work schedule is Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:00 pm; however extra hours are required for this position during opening and closing weeks.
Essential Job Duties:
- Leadership.
- Provide classroom/office support and perform related duties as assigned.
- Plan prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
- Update classroom curriculum before students arrive.
- Correct and evaluate student work when appropriate.
- Play active role in classroom programming and mentorship of assistant staff.
- Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment.
- Participate in program activities when appropriate or required.
- Ensure students/staff are following all St. Olaf and UB rules and guidelines.
- Update classroom curriculum by the end of the summer program for the following year.
- Attend and participate in all classroom staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Collaboration.
- Assist program staff with compiling and entering data and other documentation.
- Work closely and collaboratively with fellow classroom staff.
- Assist the Director with other documents/tasks as requested.
- Maintain relationships with faculty staff and St. Olaf community.
- Participate in UB summer staff training.
- Assist with program needs and requests.
- Participate in program activities when required.
- Supervision.
- Provide supervision for undergraduate classroom assistants.
- Assign tasks to be completed by assistant classroom staff.
- Supervise all summer participants to ensure safety rules and positive experience.
- Report all and any student/staff concerns immediately to the program director.
- Support respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds values and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
- Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:Bachelors degree ability to establish good rapport with students experience with and ability to relate with others (high school students) sensitive to target population and committed to program objectives and goals strong background in subject areas.
- Experience: Teaching/classroom experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Valid Minnesota teaching license.
- Experience:3 years classroom experience preferably in a high school/college/academic setting with a diverse student body; personal background/familiarity with students with similar backgrounds to those in TRIO (ex. lowincome firstgeneration in their families to obtain a college degree); previous supervision experience must be able to commute to and from St. Olaf.
