Athletics Job DescriptionLocation: Spartanburg SC 29301Spartanburg Methodist College is seeking motivated and enthusiastic student workers to support various aspects of athletic events. The role includes multiple responsibilities such as assisting with bat compression testing event setup and breakdown gate monitoring oncourt and onfield support and liaising with officials and visiting teams. This position is ideal for students who are organized detailoriented and able to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities: Bat Test Assistant: - Assist with the compression testing of bats to be used by home and visiting teams during competitions.
- Ensure accurate recording of test results and maintain testing equipment.
Event Setup / Breakdown Assistant: - Help with the preparation and teardown of athletic event setups including equipment seating and facilities.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining event supplies and equipment before and after competitions.
Gate Monitor: - Monitor access points to ensure spectators do not enter areas designated for student athletes coaches and game officials.
- Provide assistance and direction to guests as needed while maintaining security and access protocols.
- May assist by scanning tickets for indoor sports entry
OnCourt Support Assistant Basketball / Volleyball: - Aid with ball retrieval and floor sweeping during basketball and volleyball games.
- Ensure that the playing surface and equipment are in optimal condition throughout the competition.
OnField Support Assistant Soccer: - Assist with ball retrieval during soccer matches.
- Support the smooth flow of the game by quickly returning balls to play.
Officials / Visiting Team Liaison: - Greet and assist officials and visiting teams leading them to assigned locker rooms and escorting them to and from competition areas.
- Address any pre and postcompetition needs that may arise ensuring a smooth and professional experience for all parties involved.
Qualifications: - Student Status: Must be a current student attending Spartanburg Methodist College.
- Federal Work Study Eligibility: Must be eligible to receive Federal Work Study funds.

- Flexibility to work long hours including evenings weekends and holidays.
