Job Title: Director of Facilities and Safety Department: Operations Reports To: COO Salary: $70000 $75000 Hours per week: Fulltime / 40 hours per week Job Overview: SafeNest is seeking a highly organized and handsonDirector of Facilities and Safetyto oversee property management facility operations inventory control and safety compliance across our locations. This role ensures that all facilities operate efficiently meet regulatory standards and provide a safe clean and supportive environment for staff. Must have experience managing facilities within a commercial property setting. Key Responsibilities: Facility & Property Management - Oversee the maintenance janitorial and safety of all SafeNest properties including shelters administrative offices and service centers.
- Serve as the primary liaison for property management issues including vendor contracts and landlord relationships. Review tenant leases and manage requests as needed.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to maximize the lifespan of equipment and infrastructure.
- Oversee all building repairs renovations and capital improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with all local state and federal building codes and safety regulations.
Staff Development & Supervision - Provide leadership training and performance management for the facilities team including maintenance and janitorial staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability efficiency and continuous improvement among direct reports.
- Conduct regular team meetings professional development workshops and safety training sessions.
Inventory & Resource Management - Oversee facility inventory including maintenance supplies safety equipment and operational resources.
- Maintain an accurate inventory tracking system to prevent shortages or overstocking.
Safety Compliance & Emergency Preparedness - Develop implement and enforce safety policies to protect tenants clients staff and visitors.
- Conduct routine safety inspections audits and risk assessments.
- Lead emergency preparedness initiatives including crisis response planning environmental emergency policies and regular evacuation drills.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations fire codes and health safety standards.
- Coordinate with law enforcement fire departments and emergency response agencies as needed.
Qualifications - 2 to 3 years managing facilities within a commercial property with 5 or more tenants required.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in facilities preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships negotiate contracts and oversee budgets.
- Experience with inventory management and procurement processes.
- Excellent communication problemsolving and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management software.
- CPR/First Aid and OSHA certification preferred.
Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift up to 25 to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require walking standing bending and climbing stairs regularly.
