GHD is seeking an intermediate Engineer/Geologist/Scientist to work with our Contaminated Assessment Remediation (CAR) group as a CAR professional. This position can be based out in multiple GHD offices across de U.S. (Des Moines Iowa Chicago IL Topeka KS West Chester (Cincinnati) Ohio Farmington Hills (Detroit) MI Plainwell MI Indianapolis IN St. Paul MN Omaha NB and St. Louis Missouri).

Responsibilities of the position will be but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical and project management services to our existing and future clients on a variety of projects
  • Prepare technical correspondence project proposals technical reports work plans and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets
  • Data compilation reduction interpretation evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards
  • Interact with internal and external clients contractors and service providers
  • Conduct environmental sampling and monitoring for various media and contaminants of concern by following established procedures
  • Be available for occasional after hours response to environmental emergencies to perform field tasks.
  • Participate in a proactive safety culture of continuous improvement
  • Client engagement approach and stewardship
  • Complex problem solving as it relates to environmental remediation and economic decision making
  • Balancing the triangle of Scope Schedule and Budget to produce the best results possible for our clients
  • Diverse professional networks spanning the globe and multitudes of disciplines

For Success in this position you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Applied Science (Engineering Geology or Science)
  • 510 years experience including a mix of field data evaluation and interpretation and technical report writing
  • Professional Designation/License (Engineer Geologist etc) a plus
  • Experience preparing regulatory work plans and reports for investigation remediation and closure.
  • Understanding of multimedia remedial technologies for addressing a variety of contaminants including VOCs SVOCs metals and PFAS.
  • Working knowledge of the design and operation and maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment.
  • Working knowledge of methods and procedures for site characterization hydrogeologic analysis and remediation of contaminants in soil soil vapor indoor air and groundwater.
  • Conduct research collect and analyze data to prepare reports and documents
  • Critical thinking and problem solving ability to identify multiple solutions to a problem
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude very strong interpersonal skills
  • Establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with superiors coworkers and clients effective collaborators are welcome
  • Selfstarter and willingness to work in a team in a fastpaced environment
  • Interested in continuing professional development
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Knowledge of the Midwest market is a plus
