Today Erie House is a modern social services nonprofit with programming and resources for children and youth mental health and community wellness adult education and training legal services and more. Through these programs we empower the people we work alongside to build powerful communities.

Erie Neighborhood House a communitybuilding agency empowering Chicagos lowincome and immigrant families and dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society is seeking a Lead Community Navigator.

The Lead Community navigators basic function is to recruit coordinate and task supervise community navigators to conduct outreach trainings and workshops to build leaderships skills knowledge and wellness within Chicagos Latinx community. They will also work directly with the program manager to lead advocacy and community organizing efforts identified and prioritized by the organization. They will be familiar with resources available in the surrounding communities networking within those communities making referrals to community support as needed and documenting participant progress.

The Lead Community Navigator will demonstrate the character values of honesty respect responsibility and caring. The mission of the Community Wellness and Support Services program is to promote a culture of health and encourage Eries staff and participants to become leaders in the movement for community wellness and equity.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Provide general information to community members on community resources immigration relief options knowyourrights information and general health/nutrition.
  • Recruit train and task supervise community architects to deliver informational workshops and assist with their leadership development.
  • Assist with the Legal Protection Fund (LPF) management including planning curriculum development logistics referrals volunteers and data.
  • Identify partner agencies to host workshops for A2J and LPF and build mutual relationships among these agencies.
  • Review all files from participants to ensure completeness.
  • Coordinate CityKey events at Erie House and assist with printing events held at partner agencies when necessary.
  • Work towards becoming a lifestyle coach under the supervision of the program manager;

Travel required for outreach activities training and program registration events

We are looking for a candidate who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills strong leadership skills that promote innovation growth and retention and ability to develop rapport with individuals across multicultural backgrounds and with faculty staff and members of the community

Qualifications

  • Experience working and building community: coalition building and community organizing.
  • Knowledge in family dynamics social issues and the challenges and injustices faced by Queer and disable BIPOC
  • Experience working with an immigrant population.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate and lead community workshops presentations and community projects.
  • Desire and ability to work independently but also to perform in a team environment.
  • Commitment to social justice and sensitivity to the assets and challenges of a diverse group of participants.
  • Ability to stay organized manage a highvolume workload and work under strict deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to inspire lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation is required to travel between work sites partner agencies workshops and outreach events.
