Job Description
Overview
The Respiratory Therapy Apprentice uses their knowledge and skills to perform simple direct patient care activities and complex indirect patient care activities that support the Respiratory Therapists. The employee presents a pleasing and helpful manner to the patient physicians visitors members of the department and all other medical personnel. They will also be responsible for supporting and contributing to departmental and hospital objectives by functioning as a technician in noncritical aspects of respiratory care. The RT apprentice complies with local state and federal rules and regulations and the requirements of accrediting bodies.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of a respiratory therapist this position provides support to the Respiratory Therapy department and :
- Disassembles cleans disinfects stores reassembles and transports Respiratory Therapy equipment
- Makes minor repairs to Respiratory Therapy equipment as needed
- Assists in maintaining departmental inventories
- Performs graphic cardiology procedures (EKG placing Holter monitor)
- Maintains compliance with all company policies procedures and standards of conduct
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Accepted into a Respiratory Therapy Program
Experience:
- Patient care experience (preferred)
Certification:
- BLS (Required)
