About Our Opportunity:
This is a fulltime 35hourperweek position that serves homeless atrisk streetinvolved and streetentrenched youth and takes a leadership role in internal case management and maintaining the safety of the resource. This position provides guidance information and referral to youth accessing the centre promoting safety and where possible assisting in their transition from the street to healthier alternative lifestyles. This position takes on a mentoring role with Youth Support Workers practicum students and others in the Day Program. This position reports to the Day Program Assistant Manager of Directions Youth Services Centre

What do you need to succeed
Education Training Experience
- Bachelors degree in Social Work or other relevant education
- One year of experience working with risk and/or homeless youth in areas such as child protection life skill development community support and /or community outreach
- Or an equivalent combination of education training and experience
Knowledge Skills Abilities
- Ability to engage in clientcentered change by establishing respectful relationships and increasing client motivation for positive change and ability to observe and recognize change in clients
- Ability to initiate and influence case management and creatively support complex decisionmaking
- Ability to share best practices with more junior staff and lead in circumstances where required
- Knowledge of the systematic issues that affect lowincome and marginalized people and relevant community social and health resources and government services and systems.
- Collaborative Communication including teamwork & cooperation interpersonal communication presentation skills diversity and cultural agility
- Personal Effectiveness including integrity and ethical behavior personal resilience adaptability/flexibility commitment to learning
- Personal Leadership including influence initiative judgment and decisionmaking creativity and innovation

- Maintain and ensure consistency in required documentation and financial records

Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
- Valid BC drivers license; Drivers Abstract is required
- Current First Aid CPR NonViolent Intervention Certificates are an asset
- Mental Health First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training and Food Safe Level 1 are an asset
