Job Description Summary:

MarinHealth is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II to join our dedicated team in the Core Lab and Blood Bank. In this critical role you will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures with precision and accuracy to support patient care. Youll work collaboratively with other staff to ensure timely completion of all duties while maintaining the highest standards of safety quality and compliance.

Job Requirements Prerequisites and Essential Functions:

EDUCATION
Must have a BA/BS degree in Biology Chemistry Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or other related science.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of completed prelicensure training in California State Department Public Health accredited training program

Minimum of three years of general laboratory experience in a hospital or acute care setting or three 3 continuous years with Marin General Hospital.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Lic Clinical Lab Scientist Required at hire
Basic Life Support Preferred at hire
Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire

PREREQUISITE SKILLS
1. Ability to work in teams in which all members are mutually accountable
2. Ability to work collaboratively with team members hospital staff patients and physicians
3. Willingness and ability to be trained in more than one laboratory discipline
4. Capable of organizing multiple tasks using time management skills and attention to detail
5. Basic computer knowledge with the ability to do data entry and retrieval
6. Knowledge of blood/body fluid precautions
7. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
8. Ability to read speak write understand and follow English verbal and written instructions
9. Demonstrated technical proficiency
10. Ability to delegate and direct others in the performance of laboratory procedures
11. Must demonstrate the desire to further their knowledge in laboratory science and the willingness to accept additional responsibilities such as but not limited to staff development (e.g. training inservice internships new technology evaluation assist in test validation teaching resource person etc..

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for ensuring duties of assigned shift or work area are completed working with other staff to adjust workload as necessary
  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of hospital polices and department policies and procedures. Responsible for performing job within the parameters of these policies and procedures: the following examples are not inclusive of all policies:
  • Follow all appropriate Blood and Body Fluid Precautions
  • Comply with laboratory quality control program
  • Maintaining records
  • Follow turnaround time policies
  • Use computer for data entry and information retrieval Handle and process lab specimens
  • Perform test procedures specific to assigned section
  • Check test results for validity
  • Responsible for maintenance calibration and assessing accuracy and reproducibility of instrumentation
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and safe for use
  • Participate in competency testing and training
  • Participate in Proficiency Testing (CAP surveys)
  • Keep adequate stock of supplies in work area
  • Responsible for the operation of the assigned work area
  • Direct and instruct others in the performance of laboratory procedures
  • Responsible for routine care and maintenance of equipment in assigned work area or program i.e. safety POC.
  • Participate in the following: Quality Control Programs Proficiency Testing Program Competency Testing Program Training Program
  • Assist in the development review and revision of procedures for testing and instrumentation

The compensation for this role listed on this posting is in compliance with applicable law. The selected candidates compensation will be determined based on the individuals skills experience internal/market equity factors and qualifications. This posted minimum and maximum range represents the minimum and maximum of what we reasonably expect to compensate for the position. Furthermore all compensation decisions are ultimately determined in accordance with our compensation philosophy. Compensation for positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by the agreements in the aforementioned document.
