KGW TEGNAs NBC affiliate in Portland Oregon is seeking a talented and experienced Streaming Video Producer to join our team.
We believe that creating compelling local journalism on streaming platforms is key to our success. This is a new position in our newsroom where youll have the opportunity to guide and execute our streaming vision. You will be responsible for helping create content and grow audience on our KGW television apps as well as other streaming platforms like KGW the KGW mobile app YouTube and more.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in digital and broadcast news video production. Youll work closely with the entire newsroom to produce engaging content and will manage daytoday programming of KGW streaming apps. Were looking for a candidate who is creative has strong video editing skills and who can work well with a large team. You will collaborate daily with KGWs newsroom managers anchors reporters producers video editors and more.
This role typically follows a Monday through Friday schedule with flexibility required for early or late shifts weekends and holidays based on news demands. Some work as a digital producer writing for our website and app will also be part of the duties. The position reports to the Digital Director and requires you to work from the newsroom.
Responsibilities:
Streaming Leadership: Oversee and execute the daily production and programming of streaming content ensuring highquality engaging media on the KGW TV app and other platforms. Daily streaming content includes live newscasts breaking news livestreams and original content produced by KGW News specifically for streaming.
Audience Engagement: Leverage audience analytics tools and SEO strategies to identify new streaming opportunities that resonate with local and national viewers.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with news managers anchors TV and digital reporters editors producers and other team members to create original programming for streaming platforms.
Mentorship: Train and guide newsroom staff in best streaming practices helping them develop content suitable for streaming platforms.
Project Management: Partner with the Digital Director to coordinate and manage largescale streaming projects ensuring smooth from concept to live stream setups and programming.
Video Production: Actively contribute to video production for streaming by creating producing and editing content.
Quality Control: Ensure all streaming content adheres to AP style and professional journalism standards maintaining accuracy and credibility.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in journalism communications or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of video production and streaming experience ideally in a newsroom
Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to produce engaging video content quickly and accurately
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
Experience with content management systems photo and video editing software social media platforms and streaming media platforms
Familiarity with SEO and trending best practices
A deep understanding of the evolving digital landscape and trends in streaming media
