Job Description
Introduction
Umfolozi Sugar Mill (USM) is an iconic sugar mill located in Mtubatuba 48km from Richards Bay and 30 kms from St Lucia nestled between the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site and the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park on the north coast of KwaZuluNatal. Founded in 1913 USM has become a leading producer of highquality VHP brown sugar crushing more than 1.3 million tons of cane per season producing 135000 tons of VHP sugar and 40000 tons of molasses.
Duties & Responsibilities
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have:
o High capacity energy and tenacity with the ability to multitask.
o Demonstrate proactivity agility and flexibility to new challenges.
o Strong verbal and written standards with a natural eye for detail.
o A confident leader who can work as part of a team and inspire colleagues.
Degree or diploma in procurement supply chain business or technical field (MBA will be advantageous.
Minimum of 510 years of procurement or supply chain experience ideally within a manufacturing environment.
Experience successfully managing a team.
Experience managing timelines budgets and resources to drive procurement performance.
Computer literacy (Excel and Word).
Understanding of basic SHREQ and FSSC (Food Safety).
Materials management experience.
Legal contract management background.
KEY FOCUS AREAS
The role of the Procurement Manager is crucial to the success of USM. They will lead and be directly accountable for procurement and stores inventory efforts across the business to deliver yearonyear commercial value and supply chain efficiencies.
They will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to remain informed of issues pain points and planned factory improvements ensuring that procurement and stores effectively support individual departments in their objectives. They will drive risk reduction within the supply chain enhance USMs supply chain sustainability footprint and bolster broader USM business strategies by spearheading procurement initiatives.
