Looking for summer employment Enjoy working outside performing a variety of tasks Do you have previous experience in light equipment operation Lacombe County is accepting applications for Summer General Labourers to work with the maintenance and/or construction crew members in our Operations department performing a variety of manual and physical tasks throughout Lacombe County. The approximate term date for this 4 month position is April 28 2025 August 29 2025.
Key Responsibilities
Perform a variety of general labour tasks at various parks beaches and green spaces.
Operate basic hand and power tools including eaters mowers UTVs pickup trucks etc.
Perform a variety of landscaping and cleanup activities as directed.
Assist with the maintenance and construction of roads pavements trails road clearing site cleanup and traffic control functions.
Assist as back up to the Summer Labourer position specific to the County office and recreation facilities.
Interact with the public in a respectful and professional manner.
Participate in workplace safety initiatives and meetings as required. Report to work fit for duty.
Key Qualifications
Have experience (and enjoy) working outdoors in various weather conditions and be able to perform medium lifting and moving of objects up to 40lbs.
Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of small equipment (mowers eaters tractors etc. and to those with related labour experience.
Possess and be able to maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License (current abstract required upon hire).
Must have a proven ability to interact with others in a calm courteous and respectful manner.
Able to understand and execute oral and written instruction.
This position is considered a safety/ sensitive position. The successful applicant will need to participate in the PreEmployment Drug and Alcohol Testing.
The wage for this position starts at $24.46hr (includes stat and vacation pay) for the first 8hrsand $33.00/hr for overtime hours.
Normal working hours are 9.5 hrs/day 8hrs regular 1.5hrs OT) from 7am5pm.
