Job Summary

CRNAs will work in a collaborative environment evaluating patients preoperatively formulating the anesthetic plan and administering the anesthesia autonomously. An anesthesiologist is available for consultation and help if needed. Provides anesthesia care for only obstetrical related cases to include caesarean sections epidurals dilation and curettage tubal ligations which can be scheduled or emergency obstetrical procedures. Safely transports patients to and from an anesthetizing location and ensures appropriate care during the postoperative period. Essential Functions:

  • Performs appropriate preinduction evaluation of the patients physical status. Completes a preanesthetic evaluation and discusses the plan of care with the patient and/or family including risks benefits and alternatives. Formulates an appropriate anesthetic plan consistent with surgical requirements taking into consideration the physical and emotional condition of the patient. Discusses anesthetic plan with an attending anesthesiologist as needed. 15

  • Provides anesthesia care in a manner that is consistent with accepted standards of care.

  • Recognizes urgent situations and responds in a manner that promotes the highest likelihood

    of a positive patient outcome. Requests consultation from the attending anesthesiologist as

    appropriate. 45

  • Documents patient care correctly; Maintains accurate and legible documentation of all

  • patient health care provided confidentiality of patient information and records and accurate

    records for controlled drug administration. 10

  • Performs appropriate postanesthesia evaluation care and discharge. Any and all postoperative

  • complications are brought to the attending anesthesiologists attention. Transfer of

    patient care responsibility to appropriate personnel with communication of significant

    elements of care. 20

  • Attends monthly department meetings and assumes temporary

  • administrative responsibilities when needed. Suggests or develops new revenue generating

    or dollar saving procedures. Participates in the development of more efficient patient care

    services. 5

  • Contributes to development of patient teaching or care manuals. Pursues and attains more

  • than minimum CME credits. Actively participates in inservice education. Attends

    departmental teaching and M&M conferences. 5

  • Actively performs education and Teaching of Resident Registered Nurse Anesthetists. 5


Education:

  • Masters Degree In directly related field Required


Work Experience:

  • 13 years related experience. Required


Licenses:

  • RNRegistered Nurse DORA Department of Regulatory Agencies Required and

  • BLSBasic Life Support (BLS/CPR) AHA American Heart Association Required and

  • CRNACertified Registered Nurse Anesthetist ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center Required

  • Skilled in the use and maintenance of anesthesia equipment.

  • Skill to communicate effectively with physicians patients and other hospital employees.

  • Ability to assist with patients who may need ICU ventilators highrisk intubations and facilitate fiber optic intubations.

  • Computer skills required.
