Saunders Automation is a specialist electrical and control system engineering company that has extensive experience in the design implementation and support of PLC SCADA DCS and RTU projects across multiple industries and geographical regions.
We are in the process of expanding our team in support of our strong pipeline of work and are actively seeking a Project Engineer for our Perth region.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing and delivering control systems integration projects. With a background in Engineering and proven experience in designing PLC & SCADA systems from conception to equipment selection/design programming and commissioning.

Overview
The role of the Project Engineer is to oversee and manage the technical and commercial aspects of the project. The Project Engineer ensures deliverables are met that client relationships and communication are established and good relationships maintained. The role includes maintaining records reporting on project status to management and assist in maintaining and ensuring the overall health safety and welfare of Personnel and visitors.
Responsibilities of the Role include:
- Maintain a high standard of communication skills verbally and where necessary in writing for customer enquiries and orders. Email acknowledgement within 24hrs and responses within 48hrs of acknowledgement unless otherwise agreed with customer.
- Maintain an understanding of the IMS procedures in alignment with the project life cycle.
- To process all documentation of assigned projects to ensure that all work is charged for correctly and that charges are invoiced and that payment is received.
- To supervise other professionals to ensure projects meet all technical and commercial aspects i.e. deliverables and profit whilst maintaining appropriate records.
- To provide systems engineering assistance when needed
- Ensuring that all purchases are authorised and that purchasing and accounting procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure that developed software code electrical designs and hardware selection is in accordance with the project scope customer (or Saunders where applicable) standards and industry best practise.
- Inspect and test the performance of subcontractors in purchasing.
- Ensure that system engineers working on each project are efficient and hours are monitored against the project budget.
- Ensure that when inspection measuring and test equipment is used the requirements for calibration and maintenance are adhered to.
- Ensure all project records of the department are indexed filed and stored in a suitable environment.
- Ensure that job and department records are suitably backed up to the network.
- Ensure the records are controlled as per the IMS requirements.
Your Background and Experience:
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline or the Trade equivalent.
- General WHS Induction for Construction (White card/Blue card).
- Enthusiasm for the role and commitment to continual improvement and growth of the business.
- Innovative thinking and approach to commercial and technical aspects of project delivery.
- Strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills.
- Good organisational skills.
Desirable
- Functional safety certification (TUV in SIS or Machinery)
- NER / CPENG / RPEQ / RPEV
