About the Role
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting all clinicians in the team with the administrative duties relating to compiling all information required to successfully run and manage the weekly Sarcoma clinic held each Monday. The role will directly support the Sarcoma Nurse Coordinators and medical team to successfully and efficiently coordinate the care of our patients.

  • Request electronic imports of all relevant external radiology and pathology report and images. Follow up and ensure requested items have been received
  • Request histology slides for new and existing sarcoma clinic patients from external providers as required. Follow up and ensure requested items have been received
  • Ensure all imaging and pathology reports external referrals are scanned into MRO
  • Work collaboratively with the Sarcoma Nurse Coordinators in management and preparation of each weekly Monday morning clinic
  • Develop clear pathways and protocols with all departments to ensure smooth running of the clinic
  • Assist in organising individual patient requirements for clinic attendance interpreter bookings transport requirements support of interstate patients attending clinic


Classifications for this position will range from HS1 HS17 $58442.80 $64610.00 per annum pro rata).

Your Contribution

  • Relevant experience in administration in a healthcare role
  • Experience with patient administration systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office including Outlook Word and Excel
  • Current National criminal history check or willing to obtain

About The Sarcoma Team
The St Vincents Hospital Sarcoma service is a multidisciplinary team committed to high quality sarcoma care. We have a combined service across St Vincents and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The weekly sarcoma clinic provides care to patients with a wide range of benign and malignant bone and soft tissue lumps/lesions and patients with metastatic bone disease requiring surgical input. The patient attendance in clinic and discussion in the multidisciplinary meeting (MDM) is critical to treatment planning team collaboration & communication. It ensures the team provides comprehensive individual care to all patients who attend our service.
