Fiber Splicing Instructor (Contract)

SUMMARY:

CopiahLincoln Community College Workforce Education has an opening for a contract Fiber Splicing Instructor. Primarily responsible for organizing and carrying out structured learning processes for students. This position reports to the Dean of Workforce Education and the Workforce Program Coordinator.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and provide inperson instruction and proper skills operations to Fiber Splicing Program students for the following skills: communication network basics safety infrastructure basics cable types hardware and closures cable placement fiber optic fusion splicing connectivity.
  • Develops implements and evaluates student learning activities.
  • Provides a positive role model for the students especially in areas of caring respect for self and others collegiality ethical behavior ethical reasoning and strong work ethic (including responsibility dependability and accountability) and provides constructive feedback to students.
  • Oversees the safe operation and use of equipment when being used by students ensuring that the company/college policy and standards are being adhered to.
  • Completes all necessary documentation for each student including but not limited to attendance forms and training records.
  • Must remain current with best industry practices including attending at least one annual refresher training course held by Corning during each year of instruction.
  • Collaborates with Workforce Program Coordinator on curriculum supplies and curriculum needs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fiber optic installation background or related industry work experience ie. IT or electrical installation
  • Work field experience 3 years minimum
  • Have or obtain and maintain authorized Corning training instructor certification.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Safety training with trainer authorization ie OSHA. Must be able to provide relevant credentials.
  • Training or instructing experience.
