Organizational Setting
The Forestry Division (NFO) leads FAOs work in promoting sustainable forest management and providing leadership on the environmental social and economic dimensions of forestry including its contributions to poverty reduction and food security and nutrition. It liaises with Members civil society and the private sector in aspects ranging from development of effective forest policies to forest conservation and management issues and strengthens the role of forests in climate change mitigation and adaptation. The Division also collects analyses and disseminates information on the worlds forest resources and on the production trade and consumption of wood and nonwood forest products.
The Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) is a partnership between FAO the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and AgriCord managed within the Forestry Division (NFO) at FAO headquarters in Rome. FFF is a proven delivery mechanism to sustain Climate Resilient Landscapes and Improved Livelihoods at a very practical level through support to governments and forest and farm producer organizations in countries in Latin America Africa and Asia.
The FFF empowers Forest and Farm Producer Organizations (FFPOs) with special focus on gender equality indigenous peoples and youth to achieve four interconnected outcomes: increase their linkage and participation in policy advocacy; improve their technical and business capacities to develop enterprises and to access finance in order to achieve sustainable livelihoods; develop technical and organizational solutions which both mitigate and help their adaptation to climate change in their own landscapes; and provide better social and cultural services to their Members.

The position is located in the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) of the Forestry Division (NFO) at FAO headquarters in Rome Italy.
Reporting Lines
The Manager Forest and Farm Facility) reports to the Director NFO under guidance from the Donor Support Group and Steering Committee of the Facility.
Summary of Duties and Functions
The Manager Forest and Farm Facility) will be responsible for the overall management of the programme. In particular he/she will:
- Lead the Forest and Farm Facility providing strategic vision intellectual leadership and be responsible for the management of the partnership its operations and the supervision of staff.
- Assure the achievement of the impact outcomes and outputs and programme objectives contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and monitor learning and progress.
- Oversee the planning implementation and budget management of the trust fund/s and accountable to the donors including the provision of technical and financial reports to the Steering Committee and the Donor Support Group on an annual basis.
- Ensure monitoring and evaluation of the programme and be responsible for risk management as per FAO standards.
- Promote the Forest and Farm Facility and the role of forest and farm producer organizations at all levels engaging with partners and donors to achieve impact at scale of the programme.
- Lead the development resource mobilization and implementation of a successor programme of the Forest and Farm Facility in close collaboration with relevant partners.
- Enhance innovation communications and knowledge generation ensuring that best practices and innovations are documented shared and applied.
- Collaborate closely and build partnerships across FAO to develop more integrated approaches; and strengthen collaboration with development partners and networks.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced university degree inforestry agroforestry agriculture rural development business administration or economics with a focus on natural resources management.
- Twelve years of relevant experience insustainable development based on natural resources and building resilient livelihoods particularly with smallscale producers and local communities in rural areas including in developing countries.
- Working knowledge proficiency level C) of English and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency level B) of another official FAO language (Arabic Chinese French Russian or Spanish).
Technical/Functional Skills
- Extent and relevance of experience in different countries and regions especially in developing countries and countries in transition.
Extent and relevance of experience in promoting best practices and innovations in sustainable production including related business/enterprise development value addition and marketing. - Extent and relevance of experience in providing support to rural development in particular through forest and farm producer organizations small scale producers and/or local community enterprises.
- Demonstrated capacity to support countries and relevant government agencies to create enabling policy legal institutional and investment conditions to support forest and farm producers effectively addressing hunger and poverty.
- Extent and relevance of experience in promoting inclusive approaches including related to gender equality youth engagement and with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead advocate for and manage international programmes and achieve impact at scale working as a team with partners.
- Extent of experience in resource mobilization including with the private sector.
Extent and relevance of experience in organizing international meetings trainings and capacity development
