Job Summary: Columbia College is seeking an Associate Director to lead and support the team responsible for providing and maintaining IT infrastructure and collaboration services. In this position you will be instrumental in supporting a team of IT engineers and technologists who administer support and maintain various systems and services ensuring optimal performance and alignment with college needs and strategies.
Essential Functions: Team and Organizational Leadership:
- Lead the hiring training and development of IT staff to ensure team members possess the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to help team members excel in their roles and contribute effectively to team and organizational objectives.
- Assist with department budgeting including forecasting monitoring and reporting on expenditures.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure effective service delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
- Foster collaboration between Technology Services and other units across the college promoting a cohesive and integrated approach to serving students faculty and staff through the effective use of technology.
Technology Leadership:
- Oversee various IT infrastructure (network servers storage directory) and collaboration services (Microsoft 365 and telephony) including administration maintenance delivery and support.
- Develop and maintain system documentation and departmental policies and procedures.
- Stay abreast of technology trends and strategies leading the development of short and longrange technology roadmaps and plans that align with the colleges strategic and operating objectives.
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders and vendor partners to plan manage and deliver technology projects ontime and within budget ensuring they meet the needs of the college community.
- Ensure systems are secure and compliant with product and industry standards. Implement and maintain security measures to protect data and systems including disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Monitor system performance and establish KPIs to assess the effectiveness of systems and services and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Required Core Competencies and Professional Experience: Ability to fluently read write and understand the English language. Proficiency with the following but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources. Strong leadership and management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proven experience in project management and team leadership. Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures. Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience. At least two years of supervisory experience. At least three years of information technology experience. Practitionerlevel of experience with one or more of the following: enterprise network administration physical and virtual server administration storage area network (SAN) administration cloud computing Active Directory and Entra administration Microsoft 365 administration. Strong facilitation planning and organizational skills. Understanding of information security and identity and access management best practices.
Preferred Experience: Bachelors degree in information technology Computer Science or a related field. 5 years of supervisory experience leading technical professionals. Direct experience with network server and storage administration including virtualization and cloud strategies. Direct experience with administration of collaboration systems including Microsoft 365 (Exchange OneDrive SharePoint etc. and telephony solutions including contact centers and general phone services.
Other Requirements: Ability to satisfy within the parameters set by the College and consistent with applicable federal state and local laws a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
Special Requirements (if any): Occasional evening weekend and oncall work is required to support organizational initiatives system maintenance and to remediate service disruptions.
