** This is inclusive of a $1.00/hr. direct care stipend

Job duties:

This is maintenance and personal services work in preparing one or several parts of a complete meal in a large institutional unit or preparation and service of an entire meal in a small kitchen. Work is performed under general supervision.

REPRESENTATIVETASKS:(A position may not be assigned all the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all the duties that may be assigned).

Cooks soups meats vegetables desserts and breakfast food in order to prepare resident meals.

Measures washes peels cuts and shreds vegetables and cuts and trims meat in order to prepare food for cooking.

Washes cleans and maintains utensils equipment and kitchen in order to maintain established sanitary and cleanliness standards.

Prepares and serves special diet menus in order to provide residents with prescribed diet.

KNOWLEDGESSKILLSANDABILITIESREQUIRED:(These are required to successfully perform the work assigned).

Knowledge of materials methods utensils and equipment used in food preparation.

Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation requirements.

Knowledge of food values and nutrition.

Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Ability to cook bake and serve meals.

Ability to clean and maintain kitchen area utensils and equipment.

Ability to stand for long periods in a high temperature environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(Entry level knowledges skills and/or abilities may be acquired throughBUTARENOTLIMITEDTOthe following coursework/training and/or experience).

One 1 year experience in largescale institutional food preparation including serving and cleanup.

Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC)is a 69bed psychiatric hospital serving the entire State of Maine that provides services for people with severe mental illness. As a member of a statewide community of care givers DDPC collaborates with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness their community and personal supports to provide recoveryoriented respectful compassionate and effective psychiatric care and treatment in the least restrictive safest and most therapeutic environment we can create.

TheDepartment of Health and Human Services (DHHS)is dedicated to promoting health safety resilience and opportunity for Maine people. The Department provides health and social services to approximately a third of the States population including children families older Mainers and individuals with disabilities mental illness and substance use disorders. The Department also promotes public health operates two state psychiatric hospitals and provides oversight to health care providers.
