Job Description
The purpose of this position is to load transport unload and setup of items (furniture desks tables chairs etc. both on and off campus. Required Certifications: Valid Drivers License Powered Industrial Truck (Fork Truck) Certification (required within six months of employment). General Duties: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 500 pounds (safes fireproof filing cabinets etc). Movement of fragile equipment including (but not limited to); glass counter tops computers laboratory equipment etc. Performs moves (loading transportation unloading and setup) and rearrangement of various pieces of office/classroom furniture such as desks tables chairs whiteboards televisions podiums etc. campuswide (both on and off campus) using a vehicle (pickup flatbed box truck etc) powered industrial truck dolly/hand cart or by physical means. Performs event work (loading transportation unloading and setup) and rearrangement of tents tables chairs podiums etc. campuswide (both on and off campus) as well as policing of trash using a vehicle (pickup flatbed box truck UTV etc) powered industrial truck dolly/hand cart or by physical means. Loading packing and unloading items with care ensuring no items are damaged during the moving process. Wraps furniture/items with blankets to prevent damage where applicable. Pads stacks and secures items in position on truck to prevent damage during shipment. Placement of items being moved in the requested positions at the new location. Responsible for inventory of items being moved including (but not limited to) documentation associated with tracking of assets (ie; paperwork associated with state requirements regarding asset tracking etc. Performs assembly and disassembly of items being moved as well as removal of doors door jams etc. pertaining to items being moved where hand tools can be utilized (hammer screwdriver prybar drill impact wrench pliers etc). Responsible for cleaning of items being moved as necessary. Cleaning of vehicles tools and equipment. Delivery of boxes and packing supplies upon request. Upon request performs moves associated with Shipping/Receiving Warehouse including Yard Sale and Surplus items. Receive inspect store and deliver supplies mail and equipment purchased by the University. Loads and unloads materials supplies and office equipment. Make necessary deliveries to and from local vendors and various campus locations utilizing powered industrial trucks hand trucks pallet jacks dollies etc. Pack prepare and label materials for shipment or delivery. Weekend work/overtime is a requirement of this position. General Laborer: Demolition cleaning and preparing of work sites in support of the Carpenter shop. Loading and delivering materials and using a variety of tools and machines such as (but not limited to): forklifts levels lifts power drills grinders saws pressure washers and water spraying equipment. Set up and take down ladders scaffolding and other temporary structures. Manually or mechanically move material from one place to another. Pack or wrap products by hand. Keeping record of materials moved. Sort separate pickup and deliver overnight packages UPS Fed Ex etc) bulk mail special hand deliveries and 4th class mail to the appropriate location on campus and to the Post Office. Pick up and deliver Print Shop supplies and materials as needed.
