Metro Transitis one of the countrys largest transit systems employs more than 3000 people and provides more than 80 million rides a year through an integrated network of buses light rail and commuter trains as well as resources for those who carpool vanpool walk or bike in the Twin Cities.
How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:
TheElectronic Repair Technician to repair and maintain Metro Transits radio system and various bus electronic systems and performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly Pay Range:For candidates newly hired into the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) contract starting wage is set by the ATU contract. Internal hires will follow Metropolitan Councils union wage guidelines.
Hire: $40.79hourly
After year one:$43.05(based on ATU salary rates starting 8/1/2024
After year two:$45.32 (Subject to contract change based on ATU salary rates starting 8/1/2024
This role is eligible to receive a $4000 Hiring Bonus!
$2000 after the first 30 days of employment and
$2000 after successfully completing a probationary period.
Performs preventative maintenance and maintains and repairs all radio communication listed below:
Performs preventative maintenance and maintains and repairs all bus electronic equipment listed below:
Performs Data Entry and compiles Crystal Reports for supervisor to review activity perform performance using:
Maintains and repairs equipment for Bus Safety and Data Info Systems.
Maintains and repairs nonrevenue equipment.
Refurbishes electronic components for maintenance department.
Installs and removes radio and related equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Union/Grade: Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU)/Grade77
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Safety Sensitive: Yes subject to random DOT drug tests.
What your work environment would be: This position may require working near moving parts or equipment; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and in outdoor weather conditions. This position has a risk of electric shock and radiation. The position may also require working in extreme hot (nonweather) conditions and around vibration. This position may require tasting or smelling; and working in extreme cold (nonweather) conditions; and working around loud noise. Position may require reading writing reasoning/analysis and socialinteraction.
Physical Conditions: This position may require sitting climbing or balancing; lifting up to 50 pounds twothirds or more of the time; and lifting up to one hundred 100 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements for the position are: close distance color peripheral depth perception and ability to adjust focus. If you are new to the Metropolitan Councilyou must pass a drug test (safety sensitive positions only) and a background check which verifies education employment and criminal history. A driving record check and/or physical may be conducted if applicable to the job. If you have a criminal conviction you do not automatically fail. The Metropolitan Council considers felony gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor convictions on a casebycase basis based on whether they are related to the job and whether the candidate has demonstrated adequate rehabilitation.
