Job Description

KOMAN Family of Companies has a lucrative career opportunity for a seasoned Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) with federal contracting experience to support our Phoenix AZ area projects at KOMAN Construction LLC.

What does the position do

  • Responsible for the daily enforcement of all established safety programs regulations and safe work practices.
  • Provide instructions to workers on safe work procedures safety regulations and emergency plans.
  • Provide support and administrative assistance on project specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
  • Investigate incidents promptly to identify underlying causes. Complete necessary documents and report to Safety Director.
  • Perform regular onsite hazard assessments to identify unsafe work practices and hazards. Provide recommendations to eliminate issues and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections.
  • Assist in performing compliance audits and implement followup corrective actions to ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure daily and weekly safety meetings are performed and documented for all site employees and subcontractors.
  • Provide weekly safety reports to the Safety Director.
  • Keep up with current knowledge of safety literature regulations and codes or practice.
  • Performs other duties as are appropriate and as assigned.

What will top candidates bring to the table

  • Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction industry safety experience
  • At least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years
  • 30Hour OSHA (Construction or General Industry)
  • Knowledgeable in EM38511
