Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the daytoday operations and activities of the office. Performs a wide variety of administrative and technical functions to ensure the efficient operation of the practice including patient registration and checkout appointment confirmation and scheduling insurance verification and charge capture. 

JOB TASK LIST 

  1. Oversees front desk and greets patients in a pleasant and helpful manner; gathers all required patient information. 
  2. Coordinates team member schedules and ensures office coverage is complete.  Provides coverage during absences. 
  3. Supports hiring onboarding and training of new team members.   
  4. Receives calls from patients according to established procedure; documents messages appropriately in an accurate legible and complete fashion. Seeks provider input for urgent matters and effectively screens calls for maximum office efficiency. 
  5. Utilizes critical thinking skills to manage patient scheduling ensuring flow appropriate volumes and provider satisfaction. Delivers excellent patient/customer service; communicates in a clear accurate compassionate and timely fashion. 
  6. Develops and promotes a constructive positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to maintain cooperation with and assist fellow team members both within own office and other provider offices. 
  7. Provides input for annual performance evaluations of team members. 
  8. Orders office supplies and monitors physical presentation of the office. 
  9. Proficient in desktop and electronic medical record computer applications.  Functions as Super User for EPIC and ensures compliance with established workflows within the system.  Maintains master file of all forms utilized.   
  10. Maintains provider schedules building and adjusting templates in EPIC as necessary. 
  11. Accurately and thoroughly enters patient insurance and demographic data. 
  12. Conducts accurate and timely verification of benefits precertification and authorization of patient insurance benefits if required. 
  13. Ensures all registration forms and/or patient data is updated annually and signatures are obtained when necessary. 
  14. Ensures compliance with legal regulatory and clinical policies and procedure. 
  15. Assists with medical billing including charge entry for applicable providers as needed. 
  16. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. 

Qualifications :

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Education & Training:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.   

Work Orientation & Experience:

Two 2 years experience in a medical office setting with computer experience is required. General knowledge of medical terminology and prior experience with insurance verification and scheduling is required.  Knowledge of medical coding and billing function is preferred. 

Skills & Abilities: 

Ability to handle multiple priorities; work independently take initiative in achieving expected results and handle confidential information.  Effective oral and written communication.  High degree of organization prioritization cooperation and collaboration.  Demonstrated skill in making effective decisions attention to detail and follow through and ability to interact successfully with diverse types of individuals including physicians other staff and the general public.  Consistently exhibits professionalism and positivity.
