Are you looking for a career filled with purpose where every day brings the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking an experienced child protective/social services leader who will work to achieve the highest level of services for our clients within the Northern Iowa Service Area which includes 23 counties in North Central Iowa. The position is currently domiciled in Cerro Gordo County but the final location could be negotiable within a full time office in the Northern Iowa Service Area.
The Service Area Manager (Public Service Executive) under the supervision of the Child Protective Services Director is responsible for efficient and effective provision and delivery of social service programs for some of Iowas most vulnerable citizens.
Duties include but are not limited to: management of the department offices and all personnel including the team of Social Work Administrators Executive Officers and a secretary; support for the development of child welfare/social service resources within the community; timely resolution of service delivery complaints ; creative corrective actions to address deficiencies and process improvement; and collaborate and negotiate services with provider agencies the county boards of supervisors and various community groups.

Preference will be given to those with at least 5 years of experience with:
- executive level experience in social work or child welfare programs
- federal and state government agencies and regulations
- supervising at a senior management level
- overseeing a budget of $5 million or more

b. A combination of a total of four years of education and fulltime experience (as described in part a) where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of fulltime experience. Graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program is also equivalent to one year of fulltime experience or education.
4 All of the following (a b and c):
a. Five years of fulltime managementlevel work experience in finance human resources engineering law social work regulation data processing or program research or evaluation; and
b. A combination of a total of four years of education and fulltime experience (as described in part a) where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of fulltime experience; and
c. A combination of a total of two years of graduatelevel education and fulltime experience (as described in part a) where twentyfour semester hours of accredited graduate college or university course work in a publicservicerelated area (e.g. public or business administration social work law education engineering) equals one year of fulltime experience. Graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program is also equivalent to one year of fulltime experience or education.
5 Current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of fulltime work as a Public Service Manager 1 Public Service Manager 2 or comparable specific managementlevel position.
