Description

Collins Engineers Inc. a leader in the transportation marine construction and land development industries has an exciting opportunity for an experiencedBridge InspectionTeam LeaderinNorwood MAoffice. The engineer will supervise and perform structural inspections on bridges and ancillary structures serving as the team leader. The team leader is responsible for leading inspection teams and assisting in the successful completion of inspection/design projects as well as function as the project manager on moderately complex inspection projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a team leader wanting to advance into project management!

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise abovewater and underwater bridge and ancillary design inspection and evaluations.
  • Review analyze and provide recommendations on field and/or design issues or adaptations.
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets and assist in proposal preparation.
  • Accountable for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
  • Responsible for moderately difficult engineering projects in the field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Perform moderately difficult engineering computations and estimates in designing engineering projects.
  • Prepare complete engineering plans or reports.
  • Direct and supervise the work of entrylevel engineers technicians drafters and administrative staff.
  • Coach field staff on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques.
  • Fieldwork required which could include nights and weekends.
  • Make independent decisions within a general framework.
  • Use computerassisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors degree and/or masters degree in civil engineering from an accredited fouryear university.
  • A minimum of 45 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.
  • Must have passed the NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of InService Bridges course.
  • EngineerInTraining (E.I.T. certification required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E. certification preferred.
  • NICET certification preferred.
  • Valid drivers license.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While in the field the employee may be required to walk in rugged conditions work in adverse weather conditions and stand up to eight hours or more at a time.
