Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished prosecutor for a managerial position in the Crime Strategies & Intelligence Bureau. CSIB proactively gathers and analyzes crime data and intelligence to drive the Offices strategies on crime reduction and public safety. Members of CSIB work closely with local state and federal law enforcement agencies bureaus within QDA and other stakeholders within the community to identify and proactively investigate emerging public safety threats that impact our communities including violent crime theft fraud and quality of life offenses.

This position will require the ability to assist the Bureau Chief in managing a staff of Assistant District Attorneys Intelligence Analysts support staff and detectives. This position includes the responsibility of supervising members of CSIB in providing prearrest and postarrest investigative and analytical support including drafting and editing reports regarding the analysis of cell phone data social media intelligence financial data and other complex digital forensic evidence. This position requires a critical thinker with a strong combination of writing skills organizational and communication skills as well as technological savvy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise intelligence analysts in performing research compiling and analyzing complex information/data; performing high level and highly complex Intelligence Analysis Program development and design; monitoring social media intelligence and providing reporting to executive staff.
  2. Perform and supervises difficult complex and sensitive projects and negotiations; make recommendations for the use of best practices and innovation in prosecutorial analytical techniques.
  3. Extensive drafting and editing of subpoenas search warrants pen registers trapandtrace orders and applications 2703(D) orders and responding to requests during nonbusiness hours.
  4. Forging and maintaining strong working relationships with law enforcement agencies and community partners. Communicating across multiple levels of the organization both internally and externally.
  5. Coordinate analyze evaluate and interpret intelligence and crime data in preparing routine and special reports for the benefit of legal investigative and support personnel.
  6. Coordinate with QDA bureaus in offering litigation support services.

QUALIFICATIONS: Interested applications must possess a J.D. degree be an active member of the New York State Bar in good standing and have at least 8 years postJ.D. experience. Applicants must also have:

  1. Experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution with an emphasis on drafting and editing search warrants and experience presenting complex investigations to the grand jury.
  2. Strong knowledge of and experience with the New York State Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law.
  3. Excellent writing interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  5. Ability to build relationships with community residents and organizations police and other law enforcement agencies.
  6. Experience in standard operating systems and software (Windows Microsoft Office Excel Word and PowerPoint) highly preferred.

Both title and salary will be commensurate with experience. Salary range is from $118000 to $175000.
