- Faculty: FullTime Computer Information Systems Corrections EducationSalary: $71226 $99041Location: Corrections FacilityReports to:Associate Dean of Corrections EducationOlympic College (OC) is accepting applications to teach Computer Information Systems in the Corrections Education program at the Washington Correctional Center for Women (WCCW) and Mission Creek Correctional Center for Women (MCCCW). Corrections Faculty members are professional educators primarily responsible for providing a quality education for all OC students. The faculty members relationship with the student is that of teacher mentor and facilitator of learning.
The Olympic College Corrections Education program serves incarcerated individuals within the Womens Prison Division at the Washington State Department of Corrections. This includes two unique prison facilities: the WCCW located in Gig Harbor with a population of approximately 650 individuals at minimum medium and close custody levels; and the MCCCW located in Belfair with a population of approximately 150 individuals in minimum custody.
This position reports to the Associate Dean of Corrections Education at WCCW and MCCCW and will teach classes to incarcerated individuals housed at WCCW or MCCCW. Successful candidates will teach assigned classes prepare teaching materials assign grades maintain records and consult with students as required by the instructional division.
This posting is being advertised to fulfill a contract awarded to OC by theWashington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) to operate a correctional education program at WCCW and MCCCW following an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections (DOC). OC and its employees working in a correctional education program are expected to follow all DOC Policies Information Technology (IT) and other Security requirements follow DOC Operational Memorandums and comply with the Superintendents directions. Essential Functions
- Teach a wide range of information technology courses particularly those which prepare students to enter Technical Support.
- Modify curriculum and learning activities to fit a learning environment where justiceinvolved students have limited access to networks.
- Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning activities.
- Participate with department faculty in curriculum revision program management and researchrelated activities.
- Interview and screen prospective students for the program.
- Maintain competency assessment records and student progress accountability measures on all students enrolled in the assigned course sections.
- Monitor and evaluate student performance including daily documentation tracking and grade assignment.
- Ensure that classroom/lab and equipment are in excellent condition and maintained.
- Participate in meetings and training as required by the college and DOC.
- Ability to interact with those in custody and the public according to expected guidelines treating people with dignity and respect.
- Ability to effectively combine various methods to enhance understanding including demonstrations lectures group discussions and activities individual activities etc. to ensure student success.
- Ability to recognize the value of cultural ethnic gender and other individual differences in people.
- Ability to build constructive working relationships characterized by high integrity cooperation and mutual respect.
- Ability to design and implement program curriculum aligning with state and federal standards and college program requirements.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with limited formal education and the experienced student desiring to further their career goals.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Information Systems or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Three years of successful experience working in the information technology field
- Expertise in a wide range of information technology areas with expertise in Technical Support and Networking.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating the success of students who represent a broad range of academic socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications- Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Adult Education Education Applied linguistics or other appropriate field.
- Three years of successful college teaching experience.
- Curriculum development & evaluation experience.
- Student advising and student recruitment experience.
- Experience teaching in a correctional facility

Terms of Employment
Faculty members must submit official unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.
This is a temporary fulltime faculty position contracted annually. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the departments needs. Evening and/or weekend classes instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses and offcampus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.

Working Conditions
This is a fulltime temporary instructional assignment. All classes will be taught at the Department of Corrections facilitiesWCCW or MCCCW. Department of Correction positions are grantfunded and funding is not guaranteed. The position will end upon loss of grant funding.
All Olympic College staff employed at the Correction Education facilities must be cleared by an FBI background check before being hired into such positions and complete a 3week corrections training program. Information from the background check may not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicants suitability and competence to perform in the position.
