Department Overview
The OHSU Emergency Department provides aroundtheclock multidisciplinary services to clients of all ages across the life span. The department hosts a Level 1 Trauma Center Triage (including Fasttrack and Rapid Medical Evaluations)Adult Acute Care Adult Critical Care Observation Unit and Acute Psychiatric Care. Patients arrive to the ED via ambulance walkin through the transfer center (Trauma & PANDA) and via Rapid Response Team.

Function/Duties of Position
$8000 Hiring Bonus for candidates with at least 1 year acute care hospital registered nurse experience. Must begin work by June 30 2025 to qualify.
Relocation assistance package available.
$52.11$86.81 per hour based on RN Degree and level of experience.

Our emergency nurses understand the importance of their independent scope of practice and engage in dependent scope of practice decision making with the team. Emergency nurses also provide patient and familycentered care for the full spectrum of illnesses.
The ED is responsible for assessing patient needs planning and coordinating interventions and consultations. Procedures and treatments provided in the ED include but are not limited to: placing venous access drawing bloodwork medication fluid and blood administration radiography extremity splinting and reduction laceration repair moderate and deep sedation ultrasonography intubation cardioversion D&Cs sexual exams cardiopulmonary resuscitation and imminent deliveries. Patient population and diagnoses vary from minor to critical care and include: chest and abdominal pain extremity injuries and trauma migraine seizure dehydration heart failure respiratory distress acute stroke acute STEMI acute psychosis/psychological emergencies infection and sepsis. Patients may frequently present with alcohol or drug abuse history and complex medical histories. The ED Team works determine if the patient requires admission or discharge with resources and referrals. The nursetopatient ratio is 1:1 or 1:5 based on the patients dynamic stability and acuity.
The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate evidencebased and efficient care to individuals families communities and patient populations. The Clinical RNs care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist leader and knowledge transferor Onsomble Model of the Professional Role. Professional accountability enriches the Clinical RNs engagement as a leader in promoting an interprofessional culture of collaborative decisionmaking innovation lifelong learning and teamwork. Required Qualifications
- 2 years recent ED RN experience
- Associate or Bachelors Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)
- Associates Degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
- Current unencumbered Oregon RN License
- Current BLS ACLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association required at time of hire must not expire during orientation
- TNCC certification within first 6 months
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accomodation

Length of Orientation Experienced Nurse
- External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.
- Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days26 weeks depending on the care area. An employment service agreement may apply.
