Job Description
The Job
- Working in partnership to promote and improve health wellness safety and quality of life in San Bernardino County.The Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for Nurse Practitioner II (NP II)who provide patient care services in primary care clinics with behavioral health integration using the collaborative care model. Duties include obtaining patient health history; performing physical examinations; identifying abnormal conditions and developing treatment plans; recording findings assessment treatment plans followup examinations and subsequent evaluations; engaging mental health screenings and providing interventions with support from a clinical therapist and Psychiatrist.For more detailed information refer to the Nurse Practitioner II job descriptions.Immediate vacancies exist in the Hesperia/Adelanto Federally Qualified Health Centers.The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies throughout the County as they occur.Our health centers provide a wide range of lowcost confidential health services. MBO provides a $2.00 hourly rate of pay increase which will be considered as part of the base hourly rate when calculating:- Overtime

Click the links below for additional details:CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTTravel/Driver License:Travel throughout the County is required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.PreEmployment Process:Prior to appointment applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education fingerprinting physical exam and drug screening.Visa Sponsorship:Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Continued Education: Additional training/coursework may be required.Licensure/Certification: All required licensure (CA NP and CA RN) and certifications (BLS and DEA Authorization/Registration) must be obtained prior to employment start/hire date and must be maintained through the duration of employment as an NP II. Minimum Requirements
Applicants mustpossess all of the following education andlicensure/certificationrequirements:
Education Masters degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited college or universityLicensure/Certification Applicants mustpossess and maintain all of the following items: - Valid Nurse Practitioner license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN) for a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
- Valid Registered Nurse license issued by the CA BRN
- Valid Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate (Course Completion Card) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate for authorization to prescribe all necessary medication and verification as a legitimate handler of controlled substances.
Experience Six 6 months of fulltime equivalent paidexperience as a journeylevel licensed Family Nurse Practitioner.NOTE: NP I is a Traineelevel classification and is not considered qualifying experience. The licensed NP experience must be in a journeylevel NP II or higher classification to be considered qualifying.Desired Qualifications
- Experience: Applicants with paidmental health nursing experience in a mental health environment and/or at least one 1 year of paid experience as a journeylevel licensed Family Nurse Practitioner are encouraged to apply.
Bilingual Skills: Applicants fluent in American Sign Language Arabic Korean Mandarin Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.Computer Skills:Candidates possessing computer skills in Microsoft applications and electronic medical records are preferred.
