Job Description

Summary:
The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for assembling orders preparing goods for shipment. In addition receives unpacks inspects and stores incoming materials and supplies. Must use shipping records to verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders. Responsible for documenting damages and discrepancies for reimbursement and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:
  • Move freight stock or other materials to and from storage or production areas loading docks delivery vehicles ships or containers by hand or using trucks tractors or other equipment.
  • Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Stack cargo in locations such as transit sheds or in holds of ships as directed using pallets or cargo boards.
  • Record numbers of units handled or moved using daily production sheets or work tickets.
  • Install protective devices such as bracing padding or strapping to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Direct spouts and position receptacles such as bins carts or containers so they can be loaded.
  • Attach slings hooks or other devices to lift cargo and guide loads.
  • Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
  • Adjust controls to guide position or move equipment such as cranes booms or cameras.
  • Guide loads being lifted to prevent swinging.
  • Wash out cargo containers or storage areas.


Physical Demands:
  • Frequent moving or transferring of components and/or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Continuous standing walking and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities for inspection of product include: close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and to adjust focus.
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED; and 25 years of related experience
  • Prior experience in warehouse environment and/or industrial/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Customer focused from both an internal and external perspective.
  • Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills with multiple levels of organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form
  • Ability to obtain Forklift license and operate a motorized forklift
Requirements:
  • Requires ability to safety drive tow motor and box truck
  • Need to have good computer skills with ability to create labels log in packages etc. (Outlook Epicor)
  • OT is required average work week is 50 hours; including 4 hours on most Saturdays
