Description
- The Hennepin County Attorneys Office (HCAO) is seeking a Senior Planning Analyst to conduct data analysis and develop a variety of dashboards and reports to help advance the HCAOs vision mission and values. This position will analyze data from large relational databases perform adhoc data analysis support the HCAOs data communication and transparency priorities and present results to key stakeholders to address complex organizational challenges. This position will use report development and data products including but not limited to SQL R Databricks and Power BI.Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a$500referral bonus. Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed at the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 South 6th Street Minneapolis MN 55487 and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefitearning employees is inperson in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In this position you will:- Design develop and maintain internal and publicfacing dashboards and data visualization tools used for analysis and communication of HCAOs work.
- Use software to conduct statistical analysis of criminal legal system data involving descriptive and inferential statistics.
- Gather analyze and interpret data from internal and external data sources to support ongoing HCAO reporting and timely responses to adhoc data requests.
- Use SQL and other tools to query clean reconcile and prepare data from large relational databases used for internal records management and external data sources for use in data analytics projects.
- Work with requestors and subject matter experts to outline report requirements determine methodology and design report elements.
- Create and present products (e.g. written reports data visualizations slide decks memos etc. that communicate results of statistical analyses and recommendations to HCAO staff and leadership criminal legal system stakeholders national partners and the public.
- Analyze work and information flow reporting tools and processes and business practices to design and implement process improvement and work simplification procedures.
- Design develop and implement data collection and data management strategies as part of development and monitoring of HCAO policies programs and practices.
- Analyze feasibility of proposed research develop research designs and study methodology and conduct research projects.
Need to have:- One of the following:
- Bachelors degree or higher in business administration public administration research methods statistics behavioral/social science public health computer science/MIS management science or urban/city planning andtwo years or more of related experience.
- Related education and/or experience to total six years or more.
Nice to have:- Experience:
- Using skills in statistics data analytics and quantitative methods (e.g. inferential statistics multivariate analysis prediction and forecasting classification clustering) to solve realworld problems.
- Using programming languages for data science and/or applied research (e.g. R Python).
- Using data reporting/data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau).
- Using SQL and other tools to query and prepare data from large relational databases for use in data analytics projects.
- Working with data lake architectures and/or other cloudbased data structures.
- Working within the criminal legal system or with criminal legal system data.
- Developing research designs methodology and data collection procedures.
- Creating written reports memos infographics slide decks and other products to communicate data analysis processes and results.
- Evaluating policies practices and programs.
- Facilitating discussions to gather stakeholder feedback on data projects.
- Knowledge of county government processes and data and public administration.
- Interest in supporting missiondriven work focused on disparity reduction justice equity fairness and integrity.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office products including Word Excel PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Ability to:
- Present and communicate complex analyses to a variety of stakeholders.
- Build and nurture collaborative relationships with a variety of customers/partners both internal and external.
- Successfully manage multiple priorities projects and work independently.
