Job Description

Rutherford Regional Health System is a 143bed acute care facility that offers a broad array of inpatient and outpatient care. These two forces joined because of the shared interest in collaborating with hospitals healthcare providers and patients to bring high quality innovative healthcare services to communities. Duke LifePoint combines Dukes unparalleled expertise in clinical excellence and quality care with LifePoints extensive resources and knowledge and experience operating community hospitals and healthcare organizations.

Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory. Maintains supply inventory in collection areas and phlebotomy trays. Assists lab staff with nontesting essential functions.

Essential Functions:

Labels processes delivers and receives specimens in MIS for testing.
Collects blood specimens using ageappropriate techniques in a timely manner.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies used in the performance of phlebotomy.
Participates in continuing and mandatory educational activities in a timely manner meeting expected deadlines on own initiative.
Observes all safety procedures as they pertain to universal precautions.
Minimum EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
Required SkillsCertifications:Completion of a certified phlebotomy training program.No required license. ASPT or ASCP certification preferred
Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Computer: Meditech experienced preferred.
Minimum Work Experience1 month phlebotomy experience preferred.
